The service area of the City of Winder Water System is approximately 114 square miles or approximately 67% of Barrow County. The system currently consists of approximately 413 miles of water main, most of which vary from 6" to 24" in size. The system has 2 pump stations, 6 elevated storage tanks and 2 ground level storage tanks. Our storage tanks will hold 8.25 million gallons of treated water.

The City of Winder and the surrounding area are served by one water treatment plant, the Highway 53 Water Treatment Plant. The Hwy 53 plant was built as a 2 mgd plant in the early 1970s, expanded in the late 1980s to 4 mgd, and modified again in 1999-2000 for a maximum capacity of 6.2 mgd.
