Environmental Protection Services
The City of Winder’s Environmental Protection Services is comprised of three inter-related programs that focus on protecting the environmental integrity of our rivers, creeks and streams.
- Stormwater Management Program is designed to efficiently address flood control, water quality, and the preservation of natural drainage systems.
- Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) Program provides education and assists each Food Service Establishment (FSE) in coming into compliance with the Cities ordinances.
- Watershed Management Program analyzes the watershed to ensure State and Federal regulations for impaired streams are met.
Public Outreach & Education
The City of Winder recognizes that one of the most effective ways to protect water quality is through pollution prevention. Therefore we have provided a variety of educational resources designed to encourage environmentally responsible behavior at home, school and work. All of the outreach material is designed to educate and promote behavioral changes that result in an overall reduction in stormwater pollution. In addition, the Environmental Protection Services hosts annual activities that encourage citizens to participate and get involved in pollution prevention and education. The events will be posted on our web page; please check it periodically for updates or feel free to contact our office at (770) 867-7978 for more details.
