Frequently Asked Questions

Will I still get a recycling roll-cart?

No. As of July 1, 2023, the new services for garbage and bulk pick-up do not include recycling as the service would have been subscription based and created an additional fee to customers. Customers were surveyed in February 2023 and responses revealed that current City of Winder customers would not have opted in for the service if additional cost was associated.

The City of Winder’s Public Works Department maintains residential leaf and limb pick-up services on a weekly, routed, year-round basis.

Leaf and limb pick up occurs on the same day as garbage pick-up.

Tree limbs must be four (4) feet or shorter, and no larger than eight (8) inches in diameter.

No stumps.

Debris should be placed by the road, not on manholes or storm drains, and at a safe distance from all utilities, including water meter boxes.

Piles should not block the road.

Fees:
Any debris determined to be longer than 4 feet and larger than 8 inches in diameter can be disposed with the assistance of the City of Winder Public Works crews for $50 per cubic yard. Please reach out to the City’s Customer Service Center to set up the collection of the oversized piles and fees will be assessed on the monthly utility bill.

If the oversized debris pile is not removed within 10 days by the owner/tenant, per City of Winder code of ordinances the debris pile will be removed by public works and fees will be assessed on the owner/tenant’s utility bill.

Street Sweeping As of July 1, 2023

The City of Winder’s Public Works Department finishes strong each week by clearing any remnants of garbage or leaves on a weekly, routed, year-round basis with street sweeping operations the day after garbage pick-up.

This means our public rights-of-way and streetscapes along with drainage pipes are protected from debris that could potentially cause harm to the environment.
