Development Team

Development Team meetings serve as an informal vetting session in advance of the formal application process. Potential business operators, developers, and land use applicants seeking Council approval are strongly encouraged to join staff from all development-related departments including Zoning, Engineering, Fire, Licensing, Natural Gas, Planning, Public Works and Water & Sewer to learn how to make your project successful – the first time around. 

Development Team meetings are designed to give the applicant a complete understanding of the vision and regulations of the City of Winder and to give our team a complete understanding of your project.  We use this time to ensure understanding, address any problems or hurdles that may arise during the process, identify all materials and documents that will be needed, anticipate project requirements, and answer any questions that you may have.

Project Management

By providing a variety of customer services, including one stop shop permitting, online submissions, Development Team Meetings, and Project Management services, the City of Winder works closely with developers and citizens with land use and business development needs to ensure a timely and professional process focused on producing quality development within the City of Winder.

To better serve you, all land use projects are assigned a Project Manger to concierge your project from conception to completion.  Your Development Project Manager will assist you with all submittals, scheduling, and process needs as well as liaison with all other development staff to ensure a timely and through review process for your project.

Additionally, we offer a one stop permit shop.  All your project’s permit and license applications, inspection request, and development related payments are handled through your Project Manager in the Planning and Development Department.

Online Services

You can use Build Winder to apply for a building or utility permit online, submit construction drawings for City review, pay invoices, schedule inspections and search development records.

Laws and Regulations

The City of Winder enforces all State of Georgia minimum standard codes as defined in O.C.G.A. § 8-2-20, as amended from time to time. You may find those codes at: Construction Codes | Georgia Department of Community Affairs (ga.gov).
