The City of Winder has many boards and authorities whose missions vary between the focuses of each group. If you are interested in serving on a board or authority, please email Mayor David Maynard.

Below is a brief description of each board and authority. Based on each of their missions, your experience and how you would best serve the City of Winder, select the group you would prefer to serve and include that in your email along with your name, contact information, experience and availability.

Winder Downtown Development Authority: The purpose of Winder Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is to foster the revitalization and redevelopment of Winder's Central Business District by facilitating projects that will promote trade, commerce, industry and employment opportunities.

Historic Preservation Commission: The purpose of the Historic Preservation Commission is to protect, enhance and perpetuate properties of historical value, stimulate the revitalization of historic neighborhoods and business districts, and to enhance opportunities for federal tax relief and tax credits for appropriate projects. The commission typically reviews all proposed new development and exterior renovations within the city's historic district for compatibility and appropriateness. The Commission is considered part of the planning function of the city, and its actions are coordinated through the Planning Department.

Industrial Building Authority and Joint Development Authority: The Industrial Building Authority and the Joint Development Authority were created to foster economic development and growth in Barrow County and its municipalities. These authorities can facilitate financing with certain tax advantages for eligible projects.
