Winder ADA Transition Plan:
Regulations state that structural, architectural, and communication barriers must be removed in public areas of existing facilities when their removal is readily achievable – in other words, easily accomplished and able to be carried out without unfair difficulty or expense. Public buildings, public parks, sidewalks, curb ramps, and pedestrian signals will be assessed in the future in order to understand what modifications are required. An ADA Transition Plan is in process to outline how the City of Winder to improve accessibility to all of its facilities.

ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan (PDF)

Per the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II Regulations, a public entity must evaluate its current programs, services, and activities for accessibility. The City of Winder has begun its evaluation to identify elements in our programs, services, and activities that do not meet the requirements of the Regulations. As part of this evaluation, Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. will be conducting field evaluations of City of Winder-owned pedestrian facilities in the public rights-of-way. If you have questions or require additional information regarding this project, please do not hesitate to contact Jessica Smith, Public Works at 770-867-3106 or jessica.smith@cityofwinder.com.

The City of Winder is in the process of updating our ADA Transition Plan, and we want to know your ideas on where there are issues related to accessibility, safety, connectivity, and what types of accessibility improvements are needed in the City.

Grievance Procedure

A Grievance Procedure is established to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. It may be used by anyone who wishes to file a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of disability in the provision of services, activities, programs, or benefits by the City of Winder. The City of Winder "Employee Policies and Procedures Handbook" governs employment-related complaints of disability discrimination.
