Firefighter

The Firefighter will report to the Shift Officer and or through the Chain of Command to the Fire Chief. This position performs duties, both in emergency and non-emergency situations, related to fire protection, rescues, emergency medical services, hazardous, materials response, and emergency management delivery. Serves as the principal hands-on labor in providing fire department emergency and non-emergency services to the city.

  • 24 Hours On Shift
  • 48 Hours Off Shift

 Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Valid Georgia Non-Commercial Driver's License (Class F) and able to maintain a good driving record
  • Must be able to meet current requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association, and the Georgia Fire-fighter Standards and Training Council
  • NPQ Firefighter 1 certification
  • NPQ FF2 within six (6) months of hire
  • EMT certification within twelve (12) months of hire

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma
  • Must meet the requirements of applicable Georgia Laws for holding the position for a firefighter
  • Must meet all fitness requirements of the fire department
  • No felony convictions
  • Must be a citizen of the United States
  • Must meet department's psychological and background requirements
  • Must be able to pass a credit check
  • Work evenings, weekends and/or holidays are required
