About the Community Center
The Winder Community Center was established in 1998. The building and the property surrounding it were a gift to the City of Winder by the Duckhead Apparel Company. Under the direction of Mayor Buddy Ouzts and the City Council, City employees transformed the old warehouse into a multi-purpose events facility that is booked almost every day of the year. Antique furnishings, elegantly framed oil prints, massive floral arrangements and plush upholstered pieces set on deep pile area rugs complement the rich patins of the original hardwood flooring.
Three separate areas provide pleasant accomodations for a wide variety of activities. The Boardroom seats 25 guests. The Conference Room can handle a crowd of 75 while the Ballroom comfortably seats 300. The kitchen houses a commercial refrigerator and a commercial food warmer for the convenience of caterers and food servers.
Adjacent to the Veterans' Memorial Park and the Community Picnic Pavilion, the Winder Community Center is the perfect gathering place for wedding receptions, business meetings, banquets, conferences and family reunions.
